HI
do sat 2 tests have any importance other than for adimssion purposes . I have heard that they help in advanced placement . I being an international student ( indian) dont know exactly what advanced placement means. Can someone explain the meaning of advanced placement and tell whether sat 2 scores count for that purpose

No, Advanced Placement tests allow you to earn college credit. In high school, students take AP classes and at the end of the year, have to pass a test for college credit. Sat 2's on the other hand are not as intense as these tests, and are required by only some schools. They do not allow one to earn college credit, however. Where do you want to apply? Where in India are you from? I am Indian as well, from Hyderabad!

snair...SAT 2's help you place out a foreign language (like french or spanish), if you get above 650. (i.e, satisfy the foreign lang requirement). They might also get you to place out of introductory science courses like chem and physics. I got permission to skip general physics, for example. However, they don't count for credit, so that kind of sucks.
(btw, i'm an indian too, from bangalore. I'm a freshman in the US now.)

Hey all!
kind off..., which U are you attending?
I am really bad at the writing test, my other SAT 2s are 800, 790. Could you please advise as to how I can raise that score to 650- 700. Its 500 right now, without absolutely any prep.
(BTW, I am a high school grad from India)

I took the Peterson's book for the ACT (English section is quite similar to the Writing test), but its practice tests were horrible. They didnt match the real test at all. Also, in my part of the world, its hard to get the books and they're expensive too. I have been working on the Barron's book for about a month.
If you are in favor of the book, I'll buy it, 'coz who could give better advice than an 800er. BTW, I have a week be4 the test.
Thanks
