I just started using this book and have found it to be very useful.

Has anyone else here used this book?
Any opinions?
Results?

My SAT score is in the lower 1200's, what will mastering the concepts of this book do for my score?

So how much could my score increase from a 1210?
after successful completion and understanding of KAPLAN 1600?

Please, any opinions would be appreciated.

THANKS!

"My SAT score is in the lower 1200's, what will mastering the concepts of this book do for my score?"

Well, first off, it will boost your score. :)

I would recommend taking the 10 REAL SAT's (by the College Board). It has dramatically increased my verbal skills by at least 200 points.

Well that's good to hear, and I did take the tests.

Anyone else?

By Joel_Set (Joel_Set) on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 11:44 am: Edit

okay i finished like the reading section and the anology section.. these things are suppose to be difficult right so u can raise ur points from 1500 to 1550ish? well i haven't taken any pracitce tests lately.. bec. i am sort of scared.. i am seekign a massive improvement.. and i am going to take the practice test again when i memorize like the 3500 words.. well i find the verbal part to be fairly difficult so far.. like the reading.. i did the pracitce ones.. and i my range has been like 50% right to 80%.. and the result from my anology was 12 out of 19.. the words are like extremely difficult.. is anyone in the same situation.. like find the book fairly difficult compare to the sats..

you're way better off than me. When I was working on this book, there were SO MANY problems that I couldn't do.

By Student9 (Student9) on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 01:58 pm: Edit

I'm starting my work on the math section.

My theory is that once the hard questions are mastered, the easy and medium difficulty question answers will come naturally through experience with harder material.

I have Barron's 3500 also. Of course this will definately boost ur SC and analogy scores, but won't do u much good on critical reading, which is what I need to improve.

Any other opinions? stories?

By Serene (Serene) on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 02:08 pm: Edit

Student9: Studying, instead of hearing others' stories, is what boosts your scores. Everyone here may get a 200 point increase from studying the prep books, but that won't do you any good until you quit worrying and set your mind to work.

By Student9 (Student9) on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 06:03 pm: Edit

Whoa!

who's worrying?

I'm just trying to get some info on this book.

Do u know that I'm not working?

Look, I didn't post here to boost scores.

Alright, I've probably embarassed u enough Serene.

Anyone else?

Xiggi! I need ur opinion!

By Student9 (Student9) on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 07:39 pm: Edit

Wrong attitude, Student9. What Serene told you was correct and you should show a lot more respect to one the great posters. Here is one for you: La bave des crapauds n'atteindra jamais la blanche colombe. :(

Also, you should know that I've posted my opinion about the varioys books many times. Except REA, all books are good but how much they will help is totally subjective to the individual tester. It all depends on your background and how much work you'll put in practices.
