The essay counts for 1/3 of your final SAT II Writing score. It depends on how well you did on the multiple-choice grammar section.

IS IT possible to finish the essay later and go on with the MCQs from the start?

You must start with the essay for twenty minutes, then you can go onto the multiple choice (but whenever you're done with the multiple choice you can go back to the essay.)

? why would you only write three sentences?

Mark -- you're wrong. You start the essay; if you finish, you can go to multiple choice questions BEFORE the 20 mins are up. So, theoretically, you could spend 10 mins writing the beginning of your essay, then go to MCQs, and then return to the essay. It's not like the proctor will go around and read everyone's essays to make sure they're complete...

LOL,
.
Thanks for the great advice!
I am really bad at the multiple crap (w/o enough time), and hopeless at the essay, so I think I'll give the essay less than 20 min.
