well the psat is coming up on tuesday and i am preparing for it. however, doing tests and such i have not gotten more than 200 on it. I fear i dont even GET a 200 on it. if im looking for financial aid for colleges, will this lower my chances?

First of all, try to relax about the test - the calmer you feel, the more time you can spend on each section. And don't worry - the only thing a lower-than-hoped-for score will do is prevent you from becoming a National Merit semifinalist. I don't know of any other colleges or programs that depend on the PSAT score. Don't forget to take advantage of the OTHER reason for taking the PSAT - to study the results to see how you can improve your skills before taking the SAT and/or ACT. Best of luck to you - relax and try to get a couple of good night's sleep.

hi-im also taking the psat on tuesday and i was just wondering if anyone knows-what combined score of math, verbal, and writing do juniors need to be a semifinalist? if it's different every year, then approximately what is the selection index?

Read the thread labelled "Actually a PSAT question." That contains all of the combined wisdom we have been able to come up with regarding this question.
