Has this ever happened to anyone here before?

On Monday morning, before my actual June SAT II scores arrived in the mail, I checked the scores online, and was disappointed to discover I got a 670 on Writing. (I had hoped to score at least a 700, based on my psat score of 75.) At that point, I assumed it was my essay that brought the scores down.
However, my actual score report indicated that I got a 8/12 (not too bad, right?)on the essay (subscore 63) and a subscore of 67 on the MC.
Additionally, my score report indicated that I got 6 wrong on the MC, and that I omitted 11 questions!!!

I'm highly annoyed, because I would never, ever have omitted that many questions. In fact, I typically answer far more than I should. I remember omitting one (at most two) on the test.
I'm going to have the test hand scored, and I'm just wondering if this ever happened to anyone else, and if the hand scoring was successful?

Yikes, this sounds similar to what happened to my son. April SATIs - 720M, 7670V; May SATIIs -World Hist -710, Chem -700; June SATIIs Writing 570, Mathic 570!! While he wasn't expecting spectacular scores, these were quite astounding in light of other scores and grades. The report said he skipped 10 in one of the verbal sections, which he is quite sure he didn't. There is no report on the Math to try to figure out what happened there. Also, it seems that, unlike the SAT I, you can't get a copy of your test or the Q&As - the only option is handscoring. I'm not sure what could have happened, but somehow, I don't have a lot of confidence that getting a handscore will make a difference. Anyone with this type of experience? Thanks for your help.

I'd say go for hand scoring - what is it, like only $6? It's definately worth it if your scores contradict greatly.

Its $25,which is still no big deal in light of everything. However, I'm just wondering if it ever makes a difference. Is it posible that marks were made too lightly and weren't picked up electronically? Are there other possibilites for errors? Also, in addition to the questions which were purportedly omitted, according to his score, he seems to have made a huge number of mistakes, which based on his other scores, doesn't seem that likely. I can't imagine what rescoring can do. I guess I'm just trying to figure out what types of mistakes could be made on the electronically scored test. I tend to think that it must be quite reliable, otherwise they'd have a lot of problems and have to develop a new scoring system. On the other hand, if they have a hand scoring option, does that imply that they acknowlege that some mistakes can be made in the electronic scoring?

The cynics among us would say that this is just another way for ETS to gouge andother $25 from its subjects.

Yeah, I can definately see that. In the end it's probably better to just redo it - that will save money. Plus if they find more errors (always a possibility) then you will pay $25 to get a lower score.

You do get a refund if you get a lower (or higher) score.
