Please help! i guess i have to take TOEFL since my SAT verbal score is too low. Can any one give me an overview of what the TOEFL test was like and how can i prepare for it? Thanks

Well if you are a foreigner you HAVE to take the Toefl.It's basically a very easy exam but it involves a decent period ,say a month,for preparation.Of course you can study just for a week if you are good in english.Just spend some time getting use to the format of the test and you should pass it...a 250 is the minimum score most GOOD schools require,but some agree with lower scores 240 ,213,200...

You have to right an essay, listen to a tape and answer some questions about it, and you have to read a passage and answer questions on that too. The essays are about hobbies and sometimes they give you a picture to write about (my mom took it a couple of years ago for her job)

And just like there are countless SAT prep books, there are also a lot of TOEFL prep books.

But as Joeybg said, you take it only if you're foreigner. And it wouldn't look good either if you've lived in the US for 10 years and still takes TOEFL instead of SAT I.

Just ask Tenista09, she is cramming for it. It is a good way to erase that 660 Writing in her English as Foreign Language.
