Hi,

If you got an 1600 on SAT, post below.

I'm using this poll to determine the number of 1600s on this board.

Thanks

Nope, sorry. Not in this lifetime.

Here's one...

By Evil_Robot (Evil_Robot) on Monday, June 30, 2003 - 10:21 pm: Edit

One here.

Proof: http://www.geocities.com/evil_robot69/SAT3.jpg
(copy and paste link into your browser window)

I think if you force people to post proof, there won't be nearly as many 1600s.

By Tuannguyen (Tuannguyen) on Monday, June 30, 2003 - 10:44 pm: Edit

I bet there's less than 10 anyways... Less than 5 is still logical. This board doesn't have THAT many 1600s. I see alot of high 1500s, but not that many 1600s.

By Cold_Front (Cold_Front) on Monday, June 30, 2003 - 10:51 pm: Edit

dead link

-Scratch that, it works if you copy and paste
Congratulations on the 1600

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 01:06 pm: Edit

so 5-6? (amylase did u get 1600?)

I guess that's it on this board.
So the ~600 number makes sense..

Well...you only waited a day.

1600 in April here

By Apguy (Apguy) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 01:33 pm: Edit

Yeah, I'm pretty sure 100,000 people will post here in due time.

By Madrigal (Madrigal) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 01:52 pm: Edit

1600 here. Is this thread a single sitting 1600?? I still qualify, I was just curious.
If you wnat me to prove it let me know and I can do what Evil Robot did.

By Tenista09 (Tenista09) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 06:51 pm: Edit

Who cares? It's not like anyone here knows you anyway. (looks like some people here need to boost their self-esteem)

By Wheeleroppie2 (Wheeleroppie2) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 07:16 pm: Edit

Duh....

http://www.geocities.com/evil_robot69/SAT3.jpg

That is a BS post and a BS site.

All you have to do is just edit the webpage with a simple text or html editor and you can change those scores and percentiles to whatever you want.

Why would a person with a 1600 waste their time proving it anyway...BS guys...dont buy it.

By Tenista09 (Tenista09) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 07:20 pm: Edit

Seriously, if you can easily cross out your full name with a black bar, then it's rather easy to erase the not-so-perfect score and not-so-high percentiles and replace them with 800, 800, 99, 99!

By Apguy (Apguy) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 07:20 pm: Edit

My friend once sent me a picture of the SAT score page that had been edited. He edited it to say that he got a 880 on an SAT II and was in the 777th percentile.

You can edit it fairly easy even in MS Paint.

I'll show the pic if anyone has some web space I can upload it to.

By Tenista09 (Tenista09) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 07:53 pm: Edit

Lol, Evil Robot, your bubble's been burst. I see that you crossed out your name using MS paint and edited the text. It's actually not that hard to do. I just edited one myself so that it says 900, 900, 500 percentile, 500 percentile; however, I can't attach a jpg to this and I don't have a website so I cannot show it to you...sorry to say so but you did not get a 1600, you're lying so that your self-esteem will get a boost.

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 08:40 pm: Edit

haha...why are YOU guys spending all this time to try to disprove someone and step all over him?

Also, just because it is easy to modify the image does NOT mean that that image he provided is necessarily fake.

Oooh~ logic...~~

P.S. Paint is a fairly capable program. you can DEFINITELY fix it with paint, not "even" fix it with paint.

By Tenista09 (Tenista09) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 08:58 pm: Edit

Actually Canadian Idol it required no time at all. I knew right away that MS paint is very reliable when attempting to alter a web page. And yes, it looks very fake because why would the person bother covering up his name with black paint if his name is already exposed in his profile? Some people are just way desperate to be admired, even if it takes lying, cheating, and stealing, lol.

By Sirmoreau (Sirmoreau) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 09:26 pm: Edit

I understand that he may be lying and covering up the facts, but couldn't he just leave his name and change the percentiles and all that?

By Apguy (Apguy) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 09:32 pm: Edit

"And yes, it looks very fake because why would the person bother covering up his name with black paint if his name is already exposed in his profile? "

His address isn't. I would think some people want to mask that. Besides, although it can be edited as I said above, you can't make the assertion that it is, for sure a fake.

By Apguy (Apguy) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 09:39 pm: Edit

bump

By Amylase (Amylase) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 10:07 pm: Edit

Up to this point, seven people on this board said they have 1600.

Let's wait for tomorrow.

For canadian Idol,

No I'm not a 1600, not even close, I am 1330.
I hope to boost it to 1600 over this summer(crazy huh?).

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 10:56 pm: Edit

nah its not impossible
I think i had like 53 for psat verbal score...

By Sunshine916 (Sunshine916) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:21 pm: Edit

i want to go from 1440 to 1550. should i just like...give up? i have 800 M and 640 V. WHY AM I SO ILLITERATE??? aghhhhhh how do you people get 1600's? i feel dumb...

By Tuannguyen (Tuannguyen) on Tuesday, July 01, 2003 - 11:49 pm: Edit

Whey, don't feel dumb... I studied my ass off for my score. People think i'm crazy because i actually studied Barron's 3500 or so words, plus a few others to get my V800. And the math part was just a bunch of practice (plus the fact it's kinda easy).

I bet ANYONE here who studies over the summer, and i mean cold hard solid studying (not much, about 2 or so hours a day), there's no way you shouldn't be getting over 1500.

People lie when they say you can't study for the SAT. They in a way tell the truth, as it is hard to teach yourself to analyze in such a short time. A lot of it is analyzing, BUT how can you analyze a passage when you don't even know what it means? Vocab definitely helps (long term reading helps even more).

And as i said, there aren't THAT many 1600s on this board. This is a very competitive forum, people on these boards are people who care about school and grades (why else would they even be on a forum like this?), if people on boards like these don't have a few 1500s, i wouldn't know where else to find them (except at school of course).

By Apguy (Apguy) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 12:04 am: Edit

Tuannguyen- When you studied the Barrons words, did you just memorize the general gist of each word's definition or did you learn it cold? Thanks.

By Tuannguyen (Tuannguyen) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 12:13 am: Edit

I just learned the meaning of the word. Then when i felt i understood the common meaning of the word, i went onto a dictionary and tried to understand some of the other uses of the word.

By Serene (Serene) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 12:15 am: Edit

*rolls eyes*

what's the point of this thread? will the webmaster use it as a promotion factor like, "Come and post at the wonderful College Confidential forums, where the smartest minds congregate -- including SEVEN 1600ers!!!"?

By Sunshine916 (Sunshine916) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 12:53 am: Edit

okay thanks, i have barrons 3500 and im about 420 words through (LOL). i just started a week ago though, so 60 words/day isnt bad progress.

im just wondering if it REALLY HELPS. im afraid im goign to waste 80 hours of my life memorizing all these crazy random words and my SAT Verbal will go from 640 to 660. that would really make me mad. lol. my main problem is critical reading, but if i can get almost all or all of the vocab right, then i will have a good chance of getting a 700+ because i usually miss 6-8 C.R.

i am studying 3 hrs/day now, then studying SAT II, then doing my summer reading for AP classes, plus summer school. i hope all this work pays off somehow

it doesnt feel like summer :(

By Chasgoose (Chasgoose) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 12:57 am: Edit

I got one

By Thedad (Thedad) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 02:45 am: Edit

The Webmaster would likely promote it as "Only seven 1600's...but hundreds of people just like *you*! Come and ignore them while you find the information you need!"

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 04:02 am: Edit

sunshine: I do not think for a moment that studying for these words is a waste of time. Although I'm rapidly forgetting many of them it still helped me to understand more of what's out there in literature and to gain more confidence in English. I'm sure these words will also be useful come college time.

It's not a particularly fun thing to do, but hey, if it gives you results (I know it did for me), go for it.

By Cold_Front (Cold_Front) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 06:30 pm: Edit

Pretty easy to fake these.

By Crypto86 (Crypto86) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 06:34 pm: Edit

Yeah, anyone with Photoshop (heck maybe even Paint Shop Pro) could do that - they see super easy to fake.

By Evil_Robot (Evil_Robot) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 06:47 pm: Edit

If you don't want to believe me, that is your choice. I remain satisified with my 1600. I know what I got. I don't know how else to prove it to you, dance upside down on my head and yell 1600?

By Doofus (Doofus) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 06:50 pm: Edit

By Crypto86 (Crypto86) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 06:52 pm: Edit

I didn't say that you faked your evil robot. I just said they would be easy to fake in general.

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 08:33 pm: Edit

Hahaha taht george bush thing is hilarious
America does need a better president...(sorry! but it's the truth!)

By Premed88 (Premed88) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 07:25 pm: Edit

hehehe well in real life he got like a 1200...it kinda shows that you can still succeed without a good SAT score, doesn't it?

By Xiggi (Xiggi) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 07:38 pm: Edit

Canadian Idol, just do not vote for him.

Oh wait, you can't!

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 08:34 pm: Edit

You can't either...at least not right now.

George Bush only "succeeded" with the help of his dad - that's how he got into Yale and went on to win American presidency. Of course, becoming the President of the United States is not an easy feat, but Mr. Bush certainly had the advantage of having a dad like that.

Plus, with the voter turnout of 30-40% means that only 20% max of the entire american population supported him...pretty weak if you ask me.

Not that anybody would ask a Canadian like me anyway =)

Do you know who the prime minister of Canada is?

By Tenista09 (Tenista09) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 11:08 pm: Edit

Arnold Schwarzenegger?

By Nemo (Nemo) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 11:47 pm: Edit

Jean Chretien...he was in a picture with Wayne Gretzky in today's newspaper. So I guess I didn't really know it until today.

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Friday, July 04, 2003 - 01:54 am: Edit

If the prime minister was indeed arnie our country would be much better off.

By Xiggi (Xiggi) on Friday, July 04, 2003 - 04:30 pm: Edit

A little dosis of nepotism does not seem to hurt in politics.

By Sirmoreau (Sirmoreau) on Friday, July 04, 2003 - 05:03 pm: Edit

Plus, with the voter turnout of 30-40% means that only 20% max of the entire american population supported him...pretty weak if you ask me.

My dad supports him yet, he didn't vote, and they did a poll 1 year ago and only 10 perc. of America did not support him.
