i really want to go to columbia or nyu and i have a 3.8 gpa,all honors classes, im a junior taking ap chem and french 3, im going to be editor in chief of the french magazine, and im in choir this year. i havent taken the psats or sats yet, but i've taken many practice tests and so far my average verbal score is 650 but on math it's only a 600. Does anyone know how i can raise my math score to a 650? i've already gone to princeton review and i dont know what else to do-i know i have no chance at getting into columbia without at least a 1300 so does anyone have any advice on how to raise my math score?

Math is not as hard in fundamentals on the SAT as on the ACT. But, the SAT involves trickier problems, such as free response and quantitative comparisons. So really, the best way to do better on the SAT math is practice, and follow a guide - I suggest ARCO's guide. The ARCO guide also has sample PSAT tests.
I hope you do well on your PSAT and SAT! These are 2 Very important tests.

Did you take an actual Princeton Review class, or use their books? They will let you retake their class for free if you don't score as well as you like, and since colleges take your highest score, it doesn't hurt too much to do a retake. If the course isn't over yet, talk to the instructor about getting more help - that's what they're there for. If it is done, call them to see if you can get more help before you take the test. Also use their math workout book for the SAT; it has some very good practice problems.
The ACT is a less painful test, so you might want to consider that one as another option...good luck!
