Hey all, I have a huge test coming about the cold war in my AP US History class. It will determine my grade for the year...

I was wondering if anyone knew of any online resources I could use to study, a site with a summary of the events or timline would sure be nice, but at this point I am grasping for pretty much anything useful.

Truman didnt like Stalin and vice-versa. Truman was scared since Russia was such a major power in post war Eurasia. Kennedy didnt like Khruschev and vice-versa, etc. They all didnt talk much. McCarthy made a big deal about Communism -- scared Americans. Russia built a wall in their part of Berlin to block out America/England. Wall fell down in 1989. Cold War over in 1991. Russia no longer Communist. Yelstin, then Putin.

Don't forget the homefront - "duck and cover" and building bomb shelters in the back yard. And on a more positive note, extra funding for science education.

-The Arms race- US and Soviets both built up their arms to intimidate the other.

-A cold war is a war in which there is no actual fighting.

-The Space Race- Soviets and US competed to get a satellite in space. Soviet's launched Sputnick. There were US fears of losing technological superiority so science and math were emphasized in schools.

Cuban Missile Crisis- Kruschev put missiles on Cuba that could attack the US. Kennedy told them to remove it. They did so after compromising with the US (we were told to remove our missiles from Turkey).
