I hate ppl acting so leet and stuff.

Well I'd just like to say... •••• YOU!

By Me1 (Me1) on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 11:27 pm: Edit

Congrats! Did you prep. a lot, or was it easier, or did u just have bad luck the first time?

By Future (Future) on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 11:27 pm: Edit

By Archimedes (Archimedes) on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 11:28 pm: Edit

Sorry guys... it was a ••••••• TYPO I am so happy
I don't care

By Archimedes (Archimedes) on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 11:30 pm: Edit

It was a combination of being a really easy SAT administration, me having studied three or four BARRON'S high freq. words, and the fact that I kind of didn't give a •••• when I took it and I was very relaxed.

PLUS --- MY EXPERIMENTAL WAS VERBAL, NOT MATH

I usually •••• up verbal, so I was so happy that verbal was the equating section for me!

Looks like luck was on your side.

By Chronofx (Chronofx) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 08:39 am: Edit

hmm

800V
780M

I guess that kind of kicks your score in the ass :)

By Omkar (Omkar) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 10:51 am: Edit

1600. Oh my, aren't we elitist? ;)

By Chronofx (Chronofx) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 12:24 pm: Edit

hehe, indeed.

By Snv (Snv) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 04:19 pm: Edit

just to add to your currently descending ego:

800v, 780m

By Pat57575 (Pat57575) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 06:43 pm: Edit

Okay, why don't you "elitists" just let Archimedes have his moment in the spotlight? Omkar, perhaps you should get off the computer so that you may return to your glorious desert throne among the sand dunes, where your omnipotent charisma over all who pursue the globally respected field of sand pile experimenting might truly glow with the brilliant resplendence normally characteristic of endeavors of such romance and worth.

By Chronofx (Chronofx) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 06:50 pm: Edit

heh

if archimedes wasn't a huge prick about it, i would have just said congratulations.

So let me get this straight: You hated people parading their high SAT scores in an effort to make other feels like their scores are poor in comparison?

The irony...

By Madrigal (Madrigal) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 08:46 pm: Edit

Rockin' the 1600--
Yep.

By Haan (Haan) on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 09:47 pm: Edit

Hey all got my score:

780M
720V
----
1500

So happy!(up from a 1440 in April)

Congratulations to everybody happy with his/her scores!

By Dschnapps (Dschnapps) on Sunday, May 18, 2003 - 08:16 pm: Edit

These message boards are crazy, considering that only 1000 people nationally got either a 1590 or a 1600. I think most of them are here. I got 1590, but no need for elitist bull---- because I am the first to admit that the SAT neither measures intelligence nor forecasts material and intellectual success. Good job everybody, and I hope you are happy with your scores. Remember, don't let your scores define you or think that they legitimize you!

By Dxiw (Dxiw) on Sunday, May 18, 2003 - 08:31 pm: Edit

dschnapps - finally I've found a smart person who's not full of elitist bull on these boards. Anyways, congrats man, and you got my full "agreed"ness (lol) on what you said..

By Doofus (Doofus) on Sunday, May 18, 2003 - 10:35 pm: Edit

Dxiw.. I believe I read a thread where you bragged about being a junior in advanced calculus. What hypocrisy!

By Sherlock1 (Sherlock1) on Sunday, May 18, 2003 - 11:13 pm: Edit

When do we get the question and answer service if we took the SAT this past may and ordered the question and answer service?

By Omkar (Omkar) on Monday, May 19, 2003 - 06:31 am: Edit

FYI, I was trying to sarcastically ridicule the importance placed on SAT scores. Looks like a few of you didn't catch the message, or the emoticon. Congrats to all, but don't think it's really special or anything.

By Pat57575 (Pat57575) on Monday, May 19, 2003 - 06:29 pm: Edit

Hmmm... your sarcasm is not as blatant as might be most effective.

It is true that you have been debasing the SAT for some time. However, it seems you find a certain satisfaction in posting your scores, as if they made your arguments more valid.

"Hey, seeker, I think I discussed the test with you. How did you do? Not to brag, but I got a 1600."

"I took the test today and found it very easy (i scored 1600 on the most recent 5 of my 16-odd pratice tests). THe 1st math section was tougher than normal, but not hard. I'm guessing that was experimental."

"Oh, and when people tell you that more than 3 tests don't help, they're wrong. My scores were around 1560 for the first 5 tests, then 1590, then 1600."

"SAT I 1600 (most recent 5 practice tests all 1600; others >1550)"

"I scored around 150 on a second grade IQ test. In sixth grade, I scored 1290 on the math and verbal sections of the PSAT. Now, in 11th grade, I consistently score 1600 on SAT practice tests."

"[I got] 770-800 on the practice [Math IIC] tests I took, a raw score of 43+ was an 800. Pretty easy."

"I got a 1600 too, but IMO, it doesn't matter a lot anymore (just my luck!)."

If the scores are as meaningless as you state, I fail to see why you would post yours as frequently as you do(and often imbedded in commentary about the absurd simplicity of each and every test). BTW, I'm sorry you got rejected from MIT. You would have done well there.

By Howdydoody (Howdydoody) on Monday, May 19, 2003 - 07:27 pm: Edit

What did everyone here do to prep?

By Thepiskickass (Thepiskickass) on Monday, May 19, 2003 - 11:48 pm: Edit

Yes. I need an answer to howdy's question too.

By Dxiw (Dxiw) on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 12:35 am: Edit

doofus - hehehehhe I play around a lot man. And I wasnt "bragging" just being "fun" hehe

By Erika (Erika) on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 12:41 am: Edit

Thank you, Pat.

A 710 Verbal score, Archimedes, is typically only within the 95th percentile or so. Read: Five percent of test-takers (and that's quite a whole lot) would stand in your face and yell, "BAH" because you are so damn foolish.

By Pat57575 (Pat57575) on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 12:46 am: Edit

erika, what have I done to deserve your thanks?

People don't seem to understand this...

By Dschnapps (Dschnapps) on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 01:34 am: Edit

damn, dxiw

i got to admit you got smacked there

but why is everybody being so harsh?

that's almost worse than the bragging in the first place

it's fine to be proud of your SATs, but just take it with a grain of salt and some humility.

this all reminds me of name-dropping, but instead score-dropping.

omkar's embedded score-dropping is quite dextrous.

anyway, congrats to all

By Omkar (Omkar) on Thursday, May 22, 2003 - 02:35 am: Edit

I think you'd best put those quotes in context. Those were 'dropped' in threads related to the SAT, when someone asked for scores, tips, etc. I'm not score-dropping when I say this, but I've got more scores to drop if I wanted to.

I don't remember saying all these things - I agree that (depending on the context) some of them may have been inappropriate.

Anyway, I stand by my position that the SAT is useless - at least until 2005.

By Omkar (Omkar) on Thursday, May 22, 2003 - 02:37 am: Edit

Oh, and I'm wrapping up 11th grade - I was rejected by RSI, not MIT.
