I'm just wondering how hard the PSAT's really are. Do they require lots of prep? Thanks.

Well, if this will give you an idea: I took the test COLD this year(as a sophomore) and these were my scores:
Math: 63
Verbal: 64
Writing: 70
Test prep isn't necessary. Just don't rush through the questions like I did. I'm going to retake it this Oct. for National Merit... Hopefully, I'll do better. Good luck to you.

I would not recommend extensive prep. for sophomore PSATs. I think you should familiarize yourself w/the types of ?s & directions, but wait till you get your scores from sophomore yr. to see your strengths & weaknesses & then prep. for the jr yr psat/sat.

Sophomore PSAT's require no effor. I took the test cold and got a 194 (69 v/72m/53 w)
Then, you analyze how you do and say...oh, I should work on writing.
