Sorry for my newbines, I just purchased the 89 and am still learning how to use it.
I was wondering how you can get the calculator to display non-real answers (in terms of i). For example, when I enter ROOT(-1), it says "non real value". Similaarly, when I enter solve(x^2+x+1=0,x) I get the same error. I realize it is probobly something small, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks again, and I apologize for the simplistice nature of my question!

Go to Mode. Where it says "Complex Format," change it to rectangular.
