which prep books have practice tests similar to the SAT II Writing? Which are the best to use, and which are the worst?

I found Barron's to be very good for Writing, they're usually good for most all tests. I got a 750 on the writing. I think I could've done better but whatever, I'm not complaining. But yeah Barron's has good realistic essay prompts and the multiple choice are a little harder than the real thing I think, which is good of course. I highly recommend it!
I sound like a Barron's bookseller.

don't get REA; they teach about stuff that is not even on the test like capitalization and spelling, and their practice tests are ridiculously inaccurate
