That's it!
I just got today's (tomorrows's) USA Today, oil is at $51.09 a barrel! WOW(in disgust)!
Current average price of gasoline is $1.87 a gallon! And there seems to be relatively few complaints about the price of it, people are just going along with it, paying the absurd prices. It's not even an issue the presidential candidates have really touched on.

oil should be expensive.

I used to complain about the prices too, until I heard the prevailing prices in Europe. I say we should be grateful gas is only $1.89.

edwards brought it up last night

Here in Southern CA we're paying an average of $2.20. I can't remember when it was under $2.00. Time to check out the hybrid cars.

Feenotype2, The prices are indeed higher in Europe, however in much of Europe one simply does not need a car. The mass transit system is far, far better than it is in America.

Movin' on up. Up and up it goes, where will it stop? Nobody knows.
I just got today's (tomorrows's) USA Today, once again.
Oil prices rose today, (big surprize there) up 93 cents to $52.02

J187d, that may be true, but if Americans didn't have the appetite for such large vehicles, then the amount of gas needed would be much less. Quit complaining about the prices and get smaller, more fuel efficient cars.

Yugekorb, great point! Do we really need all of these trucks and suvs? I mean look at Europe, and Japan, how many trucks do you see on the streets? It is safe to say however, that the majority of American households do need a vehicle (por lack of a decent mass transit system).

The higher the oil prices, the more acceptable the hybrid alternatives will be.
IMO, that's a good thing.

lol. I thought that you were gonna argue me, J187, because that first thing makes it seem sarcastic. But yeah, I guess it's hybrids for all until we update our mass transit.

An article in today's USA Today:
GUSHING OIL PRICES POUND AIRLINE STOCKS

This is probably best, I'm afraid to say. There are two types of American: those are cost-conscious, and those who would throw away money like it's trash.
Cost conscious americans will eventually get fed up and start buying hybrid car which will lower their prices which will increase they're popularity.
Cost-careless americans will continue to buy H2s and those new tractor-trailer cars and pay 20 bucks/gal for gas.

Okay, so what is the best hybrid car on the market?
| By Seleucus26 (Seleucus26) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 09:27 pm: Edit |
toyota prius, its better than the hybrid civic and the old insight. Toyota and honda have the only established hybrids, though soon other companies will be introducing pretty good models.
