Discus: College Confidential Café: Going to Barber Shop
By Nopants (Nopants) on Sunday, September 26, 2004 - 05:37 pm: Edit

I'm embarassed to say this, but I've never went to a barber shop. My mom or one of her friends (who are hair stylists) would cut my hair. Now I'm in college and I need a hair cut so I need to go to a barber shop.

The thing is, I don't know what to say to the barber in terms of how he's going to cut my hair. Like, can I just say to him "just keep it the same style but just make it shorter?" I've heard terms like "shorter on the side" and stuff like that. What exactly does that mean?

question: are you asian?

Because I am and I've only been to the barber once in my entire life. My mom just cuts my hair right in the bathroom.

lol, well atleast you saved some money, well when you go sometimes their are books that you can look at that have different hair cuts, or their might be a picture on the wall with many differnt haircuts, anyway you look at it the people who will be cutting your hair wont understand a word you are saying so it wont matter, just say you wont a "trim", it will be like the ole' times, its not like they wont ask you what you want, the tip is depending on it

my mom's friend cut her son's hair until he was 18 and moved away to military school at Westpoint, where they gave a nice little military shrub.
