Arg!! First Frances, now Jeanne is heading right for us. Our area can't take another hurricane. A lot of my friends and family(myself included) have makeshift repairs on their houses that are uninhabitable at the moment, if jeanne hits us there will be massive destruction. The river behind my house is already 4' above normal; we had bad rains a few days ago that caused flooding in only a few hours of rain. On top of everything we haven't had a day of school in september, now we're looking at 21 missed school days at the least, with a worst case scenario of another 2-3 weeks of no school after this hurricane. I'm taking 9 APs and it's hard to juggle house/car repairs with self study(especially when all the contractors and so forth are busy up through october leaving us to do repairs for now). On top of everything I had to go get gas today only to find half the gas stations in town already sold out; I ended up finding one and had to wait an hour to get gas that cost 12 cents more than yesturday. Ok, rant over; back to waiting for the 5 am advisory.

So how did you survive, Renegade? I presume you have no power yet? We're in Melbourne, but fairly inland. The beach area got beat up real bad, but our neighborhood did pretty well, especially considering we flooded during Hurricane Erin about 10 years ago. No flooding here yet.

My main problem with the hurricane is how it affects the school schedule (I attend Florida Tech). We now go to school six days per week and our fall break was cancelled. Oh well, it could be worse.

My main problem with the hurricane is getting my kids back into school. They're driving me crazy!!
