Mine was Teenmag.com for that magazine before it was canceled:/ I was 15. It was interesting with all kinds of people: preps, punks, goths, political freaks, etc. We even had a ped and a 45 year old man. We got trolled constantly. People would always stretch the board. There would always be pictures of porn and links. Fights constantly. Other than that all the normal teenage discussions and completely random stuff. It was shut down 2 years ago.

AOL boards!

I've been on a lot of boards, and I actually have to say out of all of them, this is by far the best. I find it somewhat ironic in a way, since the average age on several of the other boards is much older then it is here, however this board seems to have the most intelligent conversations.

However one must take into account that a large precentage of the people on these boards are either preparing to go to, or are attending some of the best schools in the world.

i used to be addicted to yahoo chats in middle school.

my first message board addiction was on the fan site for a new zealand show called Tribe. i was banned because my signature was 2 lines to long and i was devistated. it's so funny now to think about that.

Good times...

Neopets.com or the ESPN basketball boards. Don't remember which was first.

By Willywonka (Willywonka) on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 11:23 am: Edit

AllRPG.com was my first board. It was so much fun, but then I found IGN and started posting there before it became subscriber only, and now I have insider so it doesn't matter, etc., etc.

CC and IGN occupy my internet time now.

Beliefnet. It is a great website for info on religion, beliefs, spirituality, alternative religions, humanism, etc. Messageboards on virtually EVERY religious tradition(from Christianity to Paganism, Wicca to Satanism, Buddhism to Zoroastrianism, Agnosticism to Atheism, etc.). I'm still a member and actively post on Beliefnet and CC.

IGNBoards, and I was there from the very beginning. I got banned, but soon my friends from the boards started leaving as well. I went back a few days ago, and it just plain sucks these days: everything's a paid option. No real regrets about being banned tough, as it forced me to bigger and better things (in the forum industry, at least).

Kewkiekid,I used to love that New Zealand show "The Tribe". No one at my school new what it was.

Anyway, my first blog must've been an AOL board "Girl to Girl Advice" I go back there now, and I wonder why I even like it.

Didn't have no steenkin' message boards. Pre-Internet.

newsgroup rec.arts.sf

The good old days, where there was extensive quoting in every reply because often messages would propagate through the network such that often you'd receive a reply before the original message.

The AOL style boards. We had all these little clubs. We posted our outfits and purchases daily and commented on them. There were the occasional newbie invasions and big fights. We were always accusing people of being fakers. Anyone watch that show on MTV Rich Girls? Jaime from the show used to post on there, I'd talk to her on a semiregular basis. We all used to have picturetrail accounts and I knew what she looked like. It was weird to watch the show. I'm like I know her, we were internet friends! My friends would all laugh at me.

Girlforever101, same here, NO one knew the show, i saw it because i have one of those cable systems with 1000+ channels. i used to watch it every day until my parents got sick of it.
