If there is another topic about this, please redirect me. Just in case anyone has questions about the terms used on CC, they can post the questions here. I would like to know what "DS" is (mostly used by parents when talking about their kids). I know "D" is daughter and "S" is son (obviously), but I wasn't sure about "DS". If anyone could help me, that would be great!

HYPS(MC)-Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Caltech

AWS: Amherst, Williams, Swathmore

I don't know what DS means... daughter and son?? I don't know.

By Twinkletoes696 (Twinkletoes696) on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 04:31 am: Edit

Dear son? Darling son?

By Zantedeschia (Zantedeschia) on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 09:50 am: Edit

I would think that the C in HYPSMC refers to columbia...maybe that's just an east coast thing?

DS, well if you're in the yale forum, DS most likely means Directed Studies...

By Seleucus26 (Seleucus26) on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 11:44 am: Edit

I think we should start with CC

College Confidential (the website we are posting on)

(the obvious often elludes us)

By Demingy (Demingy) on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 04:03 pm: Edit

DD is generally "darling daughter" or "dear daughter". DS is generally "darling son" or "dear son". H would be husband, and of course there is a similar variation of DH. W of course would be wife and there is the same variation. DS is the most used of these though.

Actually, I've been on the Internet since 1980 or so and the newer bit of lingo I can't figure out is "meh."

Whereas WANGLYDIAPLT is perfectly lucid.

By Crazylicious (Crazylicious) on Saturday, July 10, 2004 - 02:59 am: Edit

By Magoo (Magoo) on Saturday, July 10, 2004 - 03:19 am: Edit

What about 'URM'
What does 'URM' mean? From the context, i'm guessing it has to do with race involved in applications.

thanks.

By Magoo (Magoo) on Sunday, July 11, 2004 - 09:45 pm: Edit
