Can you cry under water?

If money doesn't grow on trees, why do banks have branches?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going?

If a deaf person must appear in court, is it still called a hearing?

Why do people pay to reach the top of our tallest buildings, then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial
flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

You know that indestructible black box
that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?

By Averagemathgeek (Averagemathgeek) on Saturday, May 29, 2004 - 08:31 pm: Edit

yes

money doesn't grow on banks

teller's fee

yes

usually the things are far away, the extra height helps the person see over shorter buildings

practice makes perfect

I think it has something to do with the acidity of lemons

it would be too heavy (I think). Also, the "black box" industry would go under.

Excellent life questions...

By Qwert271 (Qwert271) on Saturday, May 29, 2004 - 09:16 pm: Edit

Yep
To look at things on the ground from a different perspective.
If the plane made out of a black box were to crash all of the passengers would die from whiplash. Their vital organs would come out of their bodies.

By Qwert271 (Qwert271) on Saturday, May 29, 2004 - 09:18 pm: Edit

Seriously. That's why they make cars crunchable. If cars were made out of I-beams more fatalies would occur due to whiplash.

If olive oil is made from olives, where does baby oil come from?

Since Kinko's is open 24/7, why are there locks on the doors?

By Musefinity (Musefinity) on Saturday, May 29, 2004 - 11:46 pm: Edit

1) Yes.

2) 'Tis a silly question.

3) The real value of your thoughts decreases over time.

4) Yes.

5) So they can be leet.

6) Because you get better with time...

7) Because real lemons taste disgusting. Almost nobody drinks dish liquid.

8) Because of terrorists.

1:yes
2: Technically money DOES grow on trees, because it is made of paper which is made of trees
3:you have to pay people that extra penny to listen to you when they really don't want your opinion in the first place
4:yes
5: because tourists pay money for anything
6:because the first doctors didn't really know what they were doing and the name stuck
7:i never noticed that.... that is quite odd isnt it?
8:it would be too heavy, and also the people who make money off of airplane crash movies and self help tapes to get people over the fear of flyign would be out of a job

if god loves me and is omnipotent, omniscient and perfect, why do i suffer?

Can you cry under water?
-Yes

If money doesn't grow on trees, why do banks have branches?
-Money is made out of cotten, not paper. Branches are metaphors.

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going?
-Cost of living and demand for your thoughts. Only give out your thoughts to those who ask for your two cents.

If a deaf person must appear in court, is it still called a hearing?
-Sure. With subtitles.

Why do people pay to reach the top of our tallest buildings, then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?
-Novelty

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
-Because practice makes perfect. Or, because they should improve over time.

Why is lemon juice made with artificial
flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
-Due to a lemon shortage caused by increased demand from dishwashing liquid, "lemon juice" will now contain artificial flavour. It's like wealth distribution. OR - because they use lemon juice in the dishwashing detergent, which contains both lemons and artificial flavour.

You know that indestructible black box
that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?
-Too heavy?

By Somecanadianguy (Somecanadianguy) on Tuesday, June 01, 2004 - 12:04 am: Edit

the whiplash thing has something to do with elastic and inelastic collisions, and the conservation of energy stuff
when you bounce a rubber ball (solid) it bounces back as it energy is retained, but when you drop something like a paper ball the energy is spent in the deformation of the material
i used to think like that too though, till I got the whole thing explained to me, basically the plane would survive but the people wouldnt anyway
its something like that, next years class for me, but my dad explained a bit about that stuff a while back, not sure if its exactly right but along those lines

Can you cry under water?

Of course.

If money doesn't grow on trees, why do banks have branches?

Because banks don't grow on braches!

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going?

To the person who has to listen to you whine.

If a deaf person must appear in court, is it still called a hearing?

Definitely!

Why do people pay to reach the top of our tallest buildings, then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Because we live in a capitalist society.

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?

Well, they need to try out their techniques out on someone!

Why is lemon juice made with artificial
flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Because we'd all be really germy if dishwashing liquid was made out of fake lemons- it's potency would go down.

You know that indestructible black box
that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?

Because then it would crash from being so heavy.

Why is there braille on drive through panels when the blind cant drive?

Maybe the blind person is riding in the car with a deaf driver who can't speak well enough to tell them what is on the menu, and obviously the blind person couldn't see sign language.

"Why is there braille on drive through panels when the blind cant drive?"

Not a "fun" answer, but I'm pretty sure the real answer has to do with the fact that it is cheaper to have one design for an ATM machine than it is to have one design for "drive-up" and one design for "walk-up".

We see different designs in ATM machines because of the different manufacturers of the machines as well as the options of the cheaper model without all the bells and whistles vs the expensive model that will shine your shoes for you. ;-) Nowadays though most ATM machines have braille for the sight-impaired (blind people aren't the only ones who need braille) and it is just cheaper to make all of the panels with braille.

most people consider his or her own opinion worth more than someone elses; therefore, your own thoughts are worth 2 cents while everyone elses are only worth one

there are people who are deaf or blind, but are there people who cannot smell, taste, or feel

By Demingy (Demingy) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 01:37 pm: Edit

Yes
