what is the best rivalry in Professional sports

i think it's the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs

don't start arguing everyone will be biased toward there favorite team

By Benzo415 (Benzo415) on Saturday, May 22, 2004 - 12:09 am: Edit

Yankees-Red Sox. Not just because I'm a Yanks fan either. The rivalry spans many years, and since both teams usually play well, it makes for great baseball.

Personally I don't think you can argue against this rivalry as being the greatest of the four major sports. The fans' passions for each team are just so deep as well.

By Somecanadianguy (Somecanadianguy) on Saturday, May 22, 2004 - 12:36 am: Edit

any original six hockey game, esp a few Leafs-Canadiens, then some new ones like Philly - Jersey, and any local teams like oilers - flames, and leafs - sens
best could just be Wings-Avs, after all the •••• thats gone on in the playoffs between - like the bloody brawl with mccarthy, claude lemieux etc. where even the goalies went nuts

Vikings and Packers....

Minnesota versus Wisconsin in the dead of winter...not a pretty sight. And we're talking some deep fan passion here too.

By Itziar (Itziar) on Saturday, May 22, 2004 - 07:24 am: Edit

Definitely Red Sox-Yankees.

By Epk (Epk) on Sunday, May 23, 2004 - 01:11 am: Edit

I third the Sox-Yanks vote.

^ ^
NY Sox

By Allena (Allena) on Sunday, May 23, 2004 - 04:39 am: Edit

I've got to go with the Red Sox vs. Yankees as well...

Though I'm a huge hockey fan, and the Red Wings vs. Avalanch battle can be pretty heated at times.

I second Vikings-Packers, but how about Bears-Packers. NFC North is brutal...

By Dswmo456 (Dswmo456) on Monday, May 24, 2004 - 01:34 am: Edit

Yankees-Red Sox is probably most famous but my favorite is Lakers-Kings
Lakers>Kings of course

By Princess_Banana (Princess_Banana) on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 - 02:04 am: Edit

what about the Raiders-Chargers?
because they used to be in LA (the raiders did) so they were a close and easy rival. and they both suck!

we always need extra security at those games

By Magoo (Magoo) on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 - 04:04 am: Edit

CHARGERS...ARE U SERIOUS...i shutter at the thought of someone caring...

im a fan of the raiders though we have fallen on hard times...:(

Pro sports rivalries stink.

College rivalries are cooler.... the best there are the following:

Tobacco Road (Duke and North Carolina)
Red River Shootout (Texas and Oklahoma)
Kentucky and Louisville
Michigan and Michigan State and Ohio State
Bedlam (Oklahoma State and Oklahoma)
Florida State and Miami FL

By Lethalfang (Lethalfang) on Sunday, July 25, 2004 - 08:41 pm: Edit

The Big Game:
Cal vs. Stanford, with the Axe as the trophy for the victor.

By Hunter1985 (Hunter1985) on Sunday, July 25, 2004 - 08:49 pm: Edit

Packers vs. Bears

Vikings vs. Packers
-So much bad blood, especially fueled by that punk Chris Hovan who had his ass handed to him last season. Always a split- we can't win in Minny, they can't win in GB. Although I must thank the Vikes for letting us into the Playoffs last year- although our Defense blew it.

Other good ones:

Yankees/Red Sox
Red Wings/Avalanch
