I live in Orange County (In california) and I got accepted to UCI and UCLA. My first choice is UCLA. i have a lot of mixed feelings about things right now. college..hs friends.....death......maybe what will happen after HS..parents...business.. i dont know if my parents will be ok when im at la or i donno if i should stay home..im just really scared right now of things....from time to time problems arise with customers and stuff... should i go to uci and stay home? go to ucla and leave them? i dont know what to do...someone help me out here...

1st choice ucla??? go to ucla. what's the worst that can happen? something goes wrong at home and you have to come back. maybe everything will be fine. funny thing about most parents: they don't like their parental problems determining the destiny of their children. they are big guys. they can handle things. if not, they'll call you. meanwhile, you have a life too. if they are not objecting to ucla, go. who knows, you may not even like it and transfer to uci. in any event, good luck.

I second that. Fwiw, being scared of something is among the worst reasons not to do it. Also, college is a nice semi-safe transition; being "away" is an important part of your personal development to an independent person. Go for it.

Well let me tell you, I got accepted to like 12 different universities, and I couldn't decide which one to go to. Some I applied to because of their prestige, others because of their location near my home and others because I felt like actually going. In the end, I flipped a coin to decide whether to go to UCLA or UCR and that was pretty dumb, but I'm leaving it up to fate. Whatever happens happens. You just have to learn to leave everything behind. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents and family, but I have to do what's good for me.
