BMW Z4 Roadster.
Otherwise, in every other case, Mercedes.

mercedes SLR McClaren - sorry, but BMW doesnt make a $500,000 supercar. only mercedes does.

Unless you are going to buy the "mercedes SLR McClaren " i would say BMW- they are so much more attractive

Mercedes by far... BMW has a cheap aura. Your question is like, "Lacoste or Abercrombie?"

I'd be happy if i could get a used honda or even a bike for college.

what a waste of a thread
By Lyoha45 (Lyoha45) on Monday, June 28, 2004 - 10:35 pm: Edit
i already drive a bimmer
(although its a 16 year old 5er which i got for 2400, but its a beast!)
but i would definitely go with the last made M5's.
the new BMW cars all have the iDrive thing
BUT mercedes does not offer sticks in their cool cars (amg) and their engines are turbocharged as opposed to naturally aspirated bmw!
so in conclusion, yeah BMW!
By Barrons (Barrons) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 12:11 am: Edit
BMW. But why not a nice Boxster?? Much cooler than either of the others.
By Icarus (Icarus) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 01:01 am: Edit
BMW has a cheap aura.</i
haha yeah right - Mercedes is the one that is now drawing from the parts bin of Chyrsler. I agree with Lyoha, the last M5 is the most beautiful piece of machinery ever.
BMW owns Mercedes - no valid sports car does not have three pedals, and mercedes doesn't make sticks.
By Xfro_Girl (Xfro_Girl) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 01:40 am: Edit
well my mom has a BMW 325i and it is pretty nice. It handles so well. And I have a cheap acura, so I dont wanna hear anyone compare the two. BMW is a million times better. I'm not a fan of mercedes, in my opinion they are cheaper than BMWs

By Roh (Roh) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 03:18 am: Edit
i want to get one.
go japanese cars! =)
german cars are not very reliable. if some parts break, it costs so much to repair it. i'm definitely not going to get a german car now, but maybe later in life.
By Afterhours (Afterhours) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 07:03 am: Edit
Believe me, Mercedes are NOT reliable! My mom used to drive a S320 and it always had problems.
By Bunmushroom (Bunmushroom) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 03:40 pm: Edit
mercedes used to be reliable. They used to last forever. But since around 1995 they have really gone down in quality. Volkswagons as well are one of the worst in terms of reliability, and they used to be pretty good.
bmws are still reliable. jd power had them in the top 5 this year behind lexus, buick, and honda.
By Lyoha45 (Lyoha45) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 04:33 pm: Edit

BMW M5 (2003 model)

Mercedes SLR McCLaren- you get that really cool new tag heuer watch (heres a link to see it--> http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/tag-heuer-slr-chronograph-calibre-36-regulators-mount-up-016606.php ) when you buy the car. Other than that, Mercedes E class or BMW Z4 Roadster
By Lyoha45 (Lyoha45) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 09:38 pm: Edit
e class > only e55 amg
how about the sl class?
By Deerhunter (Deerhunter) on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 10:13 pm: Edit
Three series is awesome for a teenager...only drawback is that I'm sure it's VERY popular at your school...don't you want to stand out?
The only Benz I like is the S-series...do you want to look like an affluent 35 year old?
Lol. Get a Porsche. Porsche Pride!
By Jaug1 (Jaug1) on Friday, July 02, 2004 - 12:12 am: Edit
Hahahaha. Get a Porsche...I't better not be a Boxster (what a girls car). Get a Carrera. Multo Bene.
7 series is nicer than the S. M5...enough said. V-10, 500bhp...7 gear SMG...so...beautiful...
VW's are actually very reliable. I own a 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg as my first car and it is extremely reliable.
I cannot say the same of Benz. My mom's C320 had to be recalled under the lemon law.
By Bunmushroom (Bunmushroom) on Friday, July 02, 2004 - 12:54 am: Edit
jag, one car out of thousands doesnt mean anything. VWs are the 5th worst out of the major brands in terms of reliability:
"But VW was still near the bottom of the survey and Ivers said virtually all European automakers were struggling with quality problems. "
Heres the full story:
By Deerhunter (Deerhunter) on Friday, July 02, 2004 - 06:51 pm: Edit
Agreed. Boxster = VW Bug (girl's car).
Carreras reign supreme.
By Roh (Roh) on Saturday, July 03, 2004 - 02:36 am: Edit
the 7 series is one ugly ass car.
mercedes S is way better.
By Enarang (Enarang) on Saturday, July 03, 2004 - 10:31 am: Edit
7-series is a technological marvel. You want naturally aspirated engines you go BMW. You want turbochared you go Mercedes. You want a sporty entry-luxury coupe take 3-series over C-class.
You want outdated looks you go Mercedes S-class. You like technology and aren't afraid to use it tkae 7-series.

By Bunmushroom (Bunmushroom) on Tuesday, July 06, 2004 - 02:01 pm: Edit
I agree, it is a waste to spend so much money on a car unless it is really neccesary for your business or something. A car is a horrible investment also, its better to get a nice house which keeps or goes up in value.

pfft Mercedes and BMW.. how about Maybach, Bentley and RR? Mercedes and BMW are TTT. want class? get a Maybach.
(no really. dont. buy a nice toyota and donate the rest of the money you woulda spent on a Benz to a charity.)

Advice from an old man.
But a used boring car ... a Honda Civic for example ... and use the extra money to
* Pay for flying lessons.
* Buy downhill skiing equipment and lessons
* Buy windsurfing lessons
* Buy scuba equipment and lessons
There are so many cool things in life to experience .... make those bucks cover as much as possible!
By Silent_Angel (Silent_Angel) on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 02:00 pm: Edit

BMW! Z4 is my favorite model of BMW other than Z-8, which costs upward of $200,000.
If you drive a Mercedez to college, they think the car is your dad's.
By Haithman (Haithman) on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 04:57 pm: Edit
BMW is where its at, the greatest piece of machinery ever to cruise the road.
But for you, screw the 3 and C and get an A4. Thats what I am trying to pull.

That is such good advice 3togo! ! !
But, on this wasted thread I will add my two cents: Forgo the BMER, they are made in South Carolina, for heavens sake. They are everywhere in SC, its a white trash dream car
sooo, I guess Mercedes would be a better choice...
But, my personal favorite cars are, and always wil be, volkswagons... I love them...
