Hello everyone,

I am now a senior in high school and will graduate in two weeks. And I will major in engineering in USC.

Well, I'd like to best use of my spare time in summer. I plan to take some classes from community college. I wonder which of these 3 options is best for me.

Option #1:

2 GE classes--- from CC that are transferable to the college i am going.

Computer Science 101------I just gonna to audit in the class. Since I don't know anything about programming.

Option #2:

2 GE classes

Calculus II--- to audit just for the sake of learning.

Option #3:

3 GE classes

P.S. Once I enroll in the college, I am not allowed to take GE classes outside of my school.(the "mercenary" U$C)

Thanks a lots :)

Honetly, my advice is to NOT go to school over the summer. Relax for a few months. Hang out with your friends that you won't see anymore. Plus, cc summer classes are five weeks long for 5 hours a day m-th, unless you want to live at school, taking three classes is going to make for a busy summer and then you'll be thrown into college. And I don't know if you live in CA yet but there's been SERIOUS cut backs on cc classes and you might not even be able to get the classes you want. I'd take one maybe two classes if you're that seriuos about it. And don't audit, thats silly. Go option 3

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

Yes, I live in CA, like 30 min from USC.

Fortunately, I get to register early since I am a continuing student.

I had a miserable last summer, I took "4" cc classes. Sounds crazy???

I am going to option 3

Again, thanks for the advice. :)

Have you seen your schools summer class list? I go to Pierce (n the valley) and I know ours is not very conducive to getting ahead. At least you're continuing... why are you in such a rush, if I may ask?

I am going to east los angeles college. I can register today if I want to, I mean, any classes.

"why are you in such a rush?"

I don't get what you mean.
Do you mean that why I take that many cc classes?

That because the classes are FREE and my hs really sucks. I want to learn more at the same time get college credit. And my life in college will be less burdenful

do not take calc II, i swear, it is a really bad idea to take it over the summer, (unless you're a math genius - i just took the final and it was hard!), my cc, college of the canyons, doesn't even offer it during the summer...

computer science is really bad too - since you don't know much about programming; over the summer is a really bad idea because its a lot of work in a short period of time...

three classes isn't so bad, i did it last summer, but its a real time commitment...

you know....usc only takes up to 16 units from community colleges and ap credit COMBINED, so i don't know why u wanna take so much... 3 classes = 9 units?...deng...might be a waste of time

but seriously, you should relax, do some non-school related activites during the summer. learn a musical instrument, get a job, or, if you really wanna go all out, do community service...high school is over...you never get these years back again...just chill
