I'm looking for a school on the East Coast (preferably in the Northeast or New England) that has a good academic reputation and a reputation as a party school. Any info would be great.

Washington and Lee University--highest hard alcohol consumption in the nation and excellent academics. www.wlu.edu

I know Duke is supposedly very easy and a big party school once you get through the tough admissions.

Penn. Cornell isn't known for being a party school at all. Chicago would be the opposite of a party school.

In my opinion, Parties Happen at every college. Also, good Acedemics happen at all colleges.
My advice would be to pick the school that seems the best fit for you, not depending on someone elses opinion, because it is their opinion, and your opinion is the one that matters. I am going to TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY starting JUNE 2. HEY good luck, but remember what I said, you won't ever be happy living someone elses life, parties are evrywhere, and so is acedemics.

I agree: Princeton. Hell. MIT students party like crazy, too. I think Calihan is right, though. Goes on everywhere.

MIT believe it or not, though it has toned down since a student died of alcohol consumption a few years back. UVA and UMD are both great academic schools, and awesome party schools. And NYU.

By Thedad (Thedad) on Thursday, June 05, 2003 - 08:18 pm: Edit

I note from the posts here that some schools apparently have acedemics while others have academics. I think I'd prefer to party at the latter.

If you ever go to a school and flip through a RECENT yearbook and see references to parties and beer on almost every page, don't go there!!!
Also if in the yearbook there are ALOT of pictures of people drinking, consider another college.
