Can you please recommend me some good sites which offer notebooks/laptops. Right now, I am looking for a notebook in the $ 1000 - 1500 range with an AMD Barton processor, DVD-RW, wireless lan card and 512 RAM.

I would suggest buying a laptop through your school, if they have what you want. I was checking out prices at the computer store for where I'm going next year, and prices were so much cheaper with the school discount.
