I am looking to transfer from the school I am at now to another school next year, for my sophomore year. Does anybody have any advice of how to do the application/college search process quickly, or does anybody know of any resources on the web that I might find helpful? Thank you.

In response to your question, I would look at U.S. News in order to help you narrow down your choices. I do however have my own questions for readers of this page. I recently applied as a mid year transfer from a moderately selective (Top 35 in US News) college to relatively more prestigous schools (such as Rice, Cornell, Northwestern). As I was accepted at all of these, I was wondering if it is easier to transfer in the middle of the year? FUrthermore, is it likely I could get into even more selective schools if I were to transfer next semester? My stats are as follows: 1350 SAT, 3.7 GPA(consistent rise in grades through college), various extra currics (nothing outstanding). In other words, was my acceptance at these schools a fluke, or should i be looking at even "better schools?" ANy advice would be much appreciated. THank YOu.

Hymanroth4, how the hell did u get into Northwestern without any outstanding extra currics. yeah, you have good SAT, but top colleges want tranfers who have significant extra currics. your acceptance was a fluke. but congrats!

I must agree with both how? and your local neighbor. If you didnt have excellent extra-curricular activities, than the chances of getting into those schools are so close to impossible that most people should not even think of trying. I must also state that everyone must deal with it, no matter how jealous we are of you. However, you DID get into the colleges, so they must have seen something very significant that we dont know of. Or maybe it was just your above average test scores and GPA. Who knows? But I must say I am VERY jealous of you. All I have is a mere 4.0 in college and an ACT Composite of 27(I could've done much better if I had taken it a 3rd time) so I may stick with transfering to Creighton University. Congratulations on your acceptances though!

Hey mayor, I said nothing about being an athlete. I just said that I might TRANSFER there. I am more of a scholar than an athlete, so I'll just watch the teams in action, while I'm involved with other activities. Besides, by the time I transfer, I'll be over 21, so chances are very likely that I'll be seeing very little of the athletics.

How-

I'm confused by your assertion that Hyman's college acceptances were 'flukes.' How can acceptance at three highly selective schools at once be flukes? Please explain your rationale, I'd love to hear it.

Hymanroth:

DO NOT keep trying to trade up schools. I would say go to Cornell b/c it's in the Ivy League, it's prestigious so just be happy with that. If you try to transfer again, you will probably not get in because schools will look at you as inconsistent. Most schools are wary of people that transfer (unless from CC) to begin with because they have no guarantee that they student won't transfer again. You exemplify that.
