If there is anybody going to Ithaca College in this board, please speak ? I tried to find any Ithaca group for 1 week and still get nothing.
To those folks go to fancy colleges: Don't laugh at us, it isn't funny.

Hey man, I'm gonna be a Freshman this fall at Ithaca College. I'm psyched for orientation coming up.

Now you mention it I really do feel like the minority on this site with all these "elites" but oh well. lol.

Ithaca college sent me this huge brochure, it looked so beautiful, but the winters suck huh? how does Ithaca college compare to Cornell, academic wise?

By Cornellian07 (Cornellian07) on Thursday, July 03, 2003 - 10:01 pm: Edit

Ithaca College isn't as well known as Cornell, but it definitely has its strong points, more in the liberal arts areas. For example, I think they have an excellent music conservatory, and drama. As a side comment for Ferrari, if you're a guy... I heard the girls at Ithaca College are very hot. And if you're a girl, then.... chances are that you're hot haha.

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Friday, July 04, 2003 - 12:53 am: Edit

Dude if that's true, that just made my day... the ratio is like m/f 40/60.

I heard somewhere that cornell and Ithaca students don't often 'mingle' with one another, is that true?

By Xerox (Xerox) on Friday, July 04, 2003 - 01:40 am: Edit

What school are you in, Ferrari ? I'm in H&S.
I don't think Ithaca and Cornell' students separate. Just because Cornell guys definitely flirt around Ithaca girls, hahaha. It doesn't mean Ithaca guys are not good enough, with m/f ratio like 40/60, there will always have some places that Cornellian fight for(the rest haha). Just kidding, dude.

Yeah, me too Humanities and Sciences! Im in the exploratory program but I already know I'm gonna transfer to Communications 2nd semester. HEHE :) Have you already gone to an orientation? I'm going next week (I think the 9th) Should be fun...

By Xerox (Xerox) on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 01:18 am: Edit

No, I will go to August orientation, sucks :(
Man, plz share me what's going on there, ok ? I'm blind.

By Cornellian07 (Cornellian07) on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 02:08 am: Edit

I think relations between the two colleges is pretty good. I have a really good childhood friend going to IC this fall, I'm definitely gonna be chilling with him a lot. He actually made a deal with a Cornellian friend of mine. He would take the Cornellian friend (who goes only for looks) to IC to meet some hot chicks, and in turn, my Cornellian friend would take my IC friend (who likes intellectual chicks) to Cornell. If you understand/care about what I just said.

By the way, when is your orientation? Ours is August 22-28.

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 02:05 pm: Edit

Xerox, I think all that's going on at orientation are those traditional freshman speechs and the math and writing placement exams. It's a three day event but I think we're mostly going to just tour the city/campus/dorms and probably just hang out with other frosh. They make it really low key. That suks you have orientation in august, I wonder how many IC has during the summer?

Cornellian, If that question was to me, my orientation is July 9th-11th. It's a lot earlier than others but oh well :) LOL That story about your friend is quite funny.

By Xerox (Xerox) on Tuesday, July 08, 2003 - 06:15 am: Edit

Thnx, Ferrari, Tell me more when you come back. , I can't wait until mine (thrilling :-( ).

The math placement exam will be quite easy if it likes the sample, I guess. How about writting ? and course registration as well. God, I can not understand why they don't print student's hand book any more. It sucks to run around in net and the online version is really lack of information. I intend to study double-major but the courses are confused, they don't tell things we'll study, only the code. It will be a lot I need to enlighten, man.

BTW, do you buy blankets, pillows, etc.. from company they recommend ?

I guess IC has about 7 orientations for each schools, weird. I have to attend the one in August because I live far away. Mine is 18-21, moving to the dorm a day before.

Cornellian, your story is nearly the same with mine,
several friends ask me that I'll have to introduce them to some IC chicks but I'm not interested in party, so. Hey, do you know about cross-register between Cornell, Ithaca and Wells(a women college)? I wonder what courses available at Cornell for Ithaca's students.

By Magicdragonfly (Magicdragonfly) on Tuesday, July 08, 2003 - 06:57 pm: Edit

I was looking @ Ithaca College before..then I gave up on it a bit..I think I might just start looking at it again..heh..snifty.

--offnote--
I just sort of realized that you can put profiles on here..I click on people (well..not on people..heh..be interesting if you could actually do that..) and occasionally they actually have something written.
I know there must have been a POINT somewhere in there

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Wednesday, July 09, 2003 - 12:43 am: Edit

Xerox, it's been so long since a real math class for me (2nd Sem. Junior year!) that I've forgotten so much stuff. Basically I'm screwed for the math part, lol. Writing is good though.

You're definitely right about picking our classes, they make it real confusing. I've only tried it once, hopefully they give instructions when I'm there, which will be in like 10 hours or so . About the pillows and stuff, I have no idea what that is your talking about (company?) but I'll ask when I'm there. And about cross registering to Cornell, I want the LEAST competivness atmosphere academically so I don't know about that either, sry :(

Dragonfly, I hope you had a good prom... meeeeow, lol. Hey, I posted my picture too. It's the only one i have online right now and I look real sketchy, like I'm laughing and sneezing or something, and for some reason my camera makes the picture real big, REALLY big. But whatever... and look into Ithaca some more!

By Xerox (Xerox) on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 02:36 pm: Edit

Nice pic, Ferrari. How the orientation going ? I hope you're satisfied.
Can you tell me the process of course registration, plz ? I try and try and still unable to get what required courses for freshman and stuff that is optional. btw, can you tell what courses you chose, if you don't mind, of course.

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 06:16 pm: Edit

Orientation couldn't have been better. It was more like a camp than anything else. There are around two hundred kids and you live like you would on a normal school day. There was soo much stuff to do, they have this small club in the cafe where kids would hang out after hours (like 1-2 am). Course reg. is kinda weird, but most likely everyone else will have no clue either so it's ok, plus when you actually go to the site and register you will have an appointed admin. helping you, that alone saved me :) In an earlier post i think you mentioned something about not having a coursebook, well they give all that (plus lots of other stuff) to you the moment you arrive.

My courseload in simple terms is Astrology, Philosophy, First-year Seminar (writing), History since 1865, and some computer graphics course. First Semester 16 credits... arg.

You'll have lots of fun... Oh yeah, the girls are freaking hot here, at my orientation probably 80% girls are cute or above

By Dancer23 (Dancer23) on Monday, August 04, 2003 - 02:21 am: Edit

Hey I'm also gonna be a freshman at Ithaca in the fall. The funny thing is my orientation was also the 9th-11th. I'm really excited to go but getting really nervous too! I thought registering for classes was horrible...almost everythign I wanted was closed. But other than that (oh and playing those stupid games in the rain) orientation was awesome

By Xerox (Xerox) on Monday, August 04, 2003 - 12:58 pm: Edit

Welcome Dancer, my orientation is not until August 21 :(( . Hope I can have some decent classes available. All sound great except the stupid registrar.

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Monday, August 04, 2003 - 06:05 pm: Edit

hey dancer, those games in the rain, what letter did your group represent? just wondering, mine was "F"...

Oh yeah, before I erase it from my memory, I hated that stupid name game where we all go around in a circle trying to remember peoples names with hand motions and crap. I am really bad with names, period. I looked like an idiot.

By Xerox (Xerox) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 03:30 pm: Edit

Hey, Ferrari. What topic and direction you took for writting placement test ?

By Ferrari (Ferrari) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 10:28 pm: Edit

there were two short essays. pick one. I picked an essay dealing with Bush and his policy with affirmative action. Read the essay and write your own opinion in the amount given, about an hour. I tried using a different approach saying Bush... er, well i forget. Not too hard, it just a thing they use to place the below-average writers in writing seminars FIRST semester rather than second. good luck on that... have fun at orientation too. :)
