I've heard some college dorms have coed bathrooms. I can understand a suite that has a bath that usually has just one person in it, but how does it work when there is one big bathroom on a floor?

Ah, i don't know. I was wondering about that myself.

well, the college i attend has single-sex bathrooms officially, but the people living there generally take a vote at the beginning of the year and make it co-ed. I don't know what you mean by 'how does that work'. Guys and girls share the same bathroom... that's about it ;)

Well, do they have one big shower room? I mean, it wouldn't be a problem if there were private showers & stuff...

most colleges with coed bathrooms have private showers.

I attend a college with co-ed bathrooms and showers. What you do is the bathroom door is kept open during the day. If you have to go, you close the door.

hmm i duno whethter the information is right or not, but i heard that cornell showers dont have doors?? hmm..?? (co-ed bathrooms that is...)

hmm i have no background info. but i can assure you that no co-ed bathroom will be lacking doors on the showers, with the possible exception of certain true-hugging hippie schools, but certainly not anything halfway respectable like Cornell.

Are you people who are talking about showers will no doors guys? Even at my crappy high school, we have curtains on the showers in the locker rooms. Middlebury also votes on whether to be co-ed or not. If I'm paying 36000 a year to go there (not that i could afford that, but hypothetically) I'd expect some decent bathrooms.

I take offense to hmm's commment about "certain true-hugging (sic) hippie schools" not having doors to the showers. Being liberal has nothing to do with not having doors on their showers. (In fact, the most liberal schools are often small private colleges, which in turn tend to have the nicest living conditions.) I would think that it is the conservative schools like West Point that may have the best chance of not having doors to their showers.

Most corridor-style dorms--just what they sound like, dorms where there are lots of rooms giving on to a hallway--have single-sex bathrooms. Co-ed suites tend to have co-ed bathrooms. I live in a suite at Columbia, and I've had a co-ed bathroom for two years. It's not worth worrying twice about. This year there's one bathroom with three sinks, two showers, and two stalls for six guys and five girls and everyone gets along just fine.

Too bad i'm not going to a small private college, nor do i plan to. And it's just great that the military school West Point is considered in your liberal eyes as "conservative." GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!
