Missed semifinalist by 2 pts. Does being a commended scholar help or is it meaningless? Combined with a 1470 SAT, 34 ACT?

help you as to what? 1470 and 34 ACT will get you plenty of potential scholarships which in most cases are just as good or better than national merit finalist scholarships. both are awesome scores

there are some schools that offer scholarships for commended students but your sat and act score will serve you just fine

where do you want to go to school? what schools are on your list

The plan is to pursue a BFA in MT, but the audition process will be a determining factor. While the performing arts are important, a solid liberal arts background is vital. Schools on my list:
Muhlenberg
Elon
East Carolina University
Baldwin-Wallace
Otterbein
Denison
Ohio Wesleyan
Illinois Wesleyan
Millikin

From the list you would think I'm from the midwest, but actually I'm from S. Calif. The BFA MT programs are much stronger in the Midwest and East.
Merit scholarhips are very important. While the income doesn't really qualify for much need, income has been spent on dance, voice, etc., more than college savings.
