First, how big is your family?
Second, I'm in a family of 5, my mom doesn't work, my dad makes slightly more than your parents combined, and I had an EFC of about 15,000, which meant I got no financial aid from the state school I'm attending.

It matters where you are applying -- how much the college costs and what their restrictions are on aid. Some colleges are very stingy even if students are quite needy. Others are very generous, even having merit scholarships set aside for students who don't meet their standards for need-based aid.
Check the web sites of the colleges you're considering to find out what their policies are.
