a buddy of mine got this letter and wanted to know if its legit. the beginning letter says "it is my great pleasure to congratulate you on your child's upcoming selection for induction into the Spring 2004 National Honor Roll," it says in a few days he will recieve an offical Lettter of Commendation. it says your son will recieve addditional attention to yuor childs college and scxholarship application.has anyone else been giving this or is this just a P.O.S.?thnaks

National Honor Roll is just like Who's Who Among High School Students. Its legit in a sense that its not really a scam. You only have to pay a fee it you want to purchase the book with your biography in it, cups, shirts ect. To put your biography in it is totally free. In my opinion I think its just for parents to be proud of their children for having their names published in something and kids feel like they've acheived something. They claim that top colleges look at the biographies, but i highly doubt that anyone besides parents reads them. So its not really a scam, just a way for students to feel good about themselves.

Crumble that piece of garbage. Collegeboard should really start using its freakin intelligence when it comes to handing out our names to dumb money-hungry companies. I recommend that on the PSAT nobody check off that they would like to be sent information.

If you check that you do not want to be sent information you will not be sent an application to apply to be a Presidential Scholar,if you qualify or some of the college info with merit offers that you might want to consider.
