Hello,
I would like to have some questions for my daughter, who is a junior in high school but has already been accepted to some colleges (early admission). We are only here for 2 years so she has to go to college to extend her Visa before it expires. I was amazed that without a high school diploma and English as her second language, she stills get some merit scholarships, although they are not enough. Therefore, I am afraid we have to take out some loans, but most banks here refuse to give out loans to international students, or only give away limited amount with an American cosigner. Can you suggest some banks where we can find help?

Next year I'll be coming back to our country so my daughter will be here alone (she's 16 now). I wonder if she has to find a guardian because she's under 18? Currently she is accepted to Tulane, St. Norbert and Louisiana State University. She is waiting for decisions from Bates and Williams. I don't know much about these schools, so which one do you think is the safest and best for her? (she wants to go to law school after college).

Thank you very much.

I am afraid that your daughter can't get into Bates or Williams because those schools are very selective. A friend of mine with even the Toefl score of 650 ( paper-based) and SAT I score of 1380 wasn't accepted to Bates last year. I 've heard that University of Oklahoma offers a loan of the cost of attandance for international student provided that you have a cosinger, who is the American citizen. Try to contact that school to find out more. Good luck.

I'm a International student and I'm go to Louisiana State University. I'm 20 and I'll be going to my Sophmore year. My parents payed for my school the first year and they can't pay for the second one so I'll be working next year to pay for my school. But I need money before that to pay for my school or my clases will be cleared. Can you tell me were I can find a company or bank that will give me a loan for a small amout just to start the year off ($4000) and I'll pay it myself once I start working and get the money. Please let me know

Dear Superdswim,
Are you going to LSU? That's where my daughter plans to go next year also. I have gone through loans options with banks, but to get a loan you have to have good credits, a job and incomes. Maybe you can work with the school or get an US citizen to borrow money for you? Do you know anyone? It will be such a pity if you have to stop in the middle of studying.
Good luck.
