hi, i just learned that i am getting a grant for college. now i'm confused - do i have to pay a grant back? i know scholarships are free money, and i have to repay loans, but where to grants fall in this?

You do not have to repay grants.

It depends on the grant. Some might be renewed, but not necessarily in the same amounts.
I'm getting rather substantial financial aid grants from UChicago, but I will have to reapply for aid each year and that amount could go up or down depending on our financial situation.
