The annual cost for my daughter's college is estimated to be $21,000. My "expected family contribution" is $5300. Her financial aid package is $5500. This leaves an "unmet need" of $10,200. Is this typical? How is this usually covered? I spoke with a financial aid rep. this morning who said my daughter is in what she calls the "catch 22" position. I, apparently, make just enough money ($39,000???!!!) to unqualify her for PELL grants, etc. Any suggestions on how we might bridge this huge gap? Or should she adopt a more attainable dream?

Some people use the following:

Parent Plus Loan
Signature Student Loan
Stafford Unsubsidized Loan (if not already taken into account)
