Ok...So I've got these things in the mail for "Who's who among American Students" and the "National Honor Roll"...I've already accepted the membership for free or next to nothing...But should I bother having them notify the colleges I applied to?...Is this a $ scam?...Or is it a legitimate, and possiblly beneficial, organization?

Check out the "national honor roll" trend in this forum. Both of them are FOR-PROFITS organization and of course scams. College will only laugh at people who put these things at application.

If you have further question, feel free to ask me.

Hmmm...Thanks...I won't include these things on my apps...But is it OK to have these orgs. electronically notify the colleges I've applied to that I've been "accepted to their accreditted organization" ie. Who's Who and Nat't Honor Roll? Again, thank you very much for your help.

I just forgot, check out this site. http://www.nhs.us/notice_misled.cfm
I don't know which national honor roll you got.
There is real one and fake one.
But you can tell if the one you got is the fake one if the address is 2020 Pennsylvania Ave Suite 8000, washington,D.C. or Merrick Road, Suite 206, Lynbrook, NY 11563

For your question, I don't think college will consider them at all.

Thank you very much.

It ticks me off because they make these orgs. look so official and everything...I feel used but glad I did my research first---with your help.

A side note/ My grandma was scammed out of a couple thou' from some "Federal Sweepstakes" or something...She's old and senile...She thought it was some government thing where she could stand to win a lot of federal money.

Thanks again.

Greetings all: National Honor Roll is a vanity press. You send them money; they print junk in their "commemorative yearbook." Doesn't mean a thing. Please see my posting at http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?6/35760 Hope this helps.
