There are so many scholarships out there, eg. on Fastweb, etc. Is there any good rule of thumb to use when sorting through and picking out the ones to apply for, ie. the ones that any given student would have a shot at?
For example my D is in the top 5% of her class (>4.0 weighted GPA), with pretty solid leadership and community service (although there are surely those who have even more), and while we may disagree, the forms tell us that we have little or no financial need. Therefore, should we even bother with scholarship applications that are open to the average student eg. 3.2 GPA, and/or those awarded based on financial need? Wouldnt the applicant pool be much larger for these?
Just wondering how others are sorting through this maze.
