For those with information on ROTC programs. We have just started looking into this and dont know much about the requirements, obligations and specifics of this program. Is it too late to apply to Naval ROTC for the 04-05 academic year? I think the obligation is 4 yrs "active duty". What do they mean by "active duty"? Not to sound stupid ....but, after four years studying physics somewhere, as a commissioned officer will our son be stationed on a ship in the "Med"? What are the "+'s" and "-'s" of going the ROTC route? Thanks for any help and advice.

if your son is in 12th grade he is too late for a high school scholarship. he can still be in rotc and try for a in college 3 or 2 yr scholarship
" 4 years" for doctors and pilots its 10 years of service after all training is over
i know for pilots this will make a total of 11 years in service
navigators is around 6 or 8
most other professions only require 4 years of service
Rotc positives- get a real college life, same degree, not as demanding but still still not laid back,
i will be going for a afrotc scholarship next year in 12th grade, the process starts in the spring of this year
go to https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/
for more info
good luck
wish to fly the f-22 raptor then become an astronaut
