I submitted FAFSA on January 1st and received my EFC the next day. The web site indicates that my EFC is 449(family annual income is 23000; household size: 3). Is this reasonable? I know that 449 a year is not much, but I expected that the EFC would be 0 in the beginning.

Yes it is reasonable. Also, depending on the schools you are applying to , be prepared for your need to be met with a combination of work study,grants and loans, not just grants.
