For the CSS PROFILE, they ask for the Adjusted Gross Income AND the "income." Aren't they both the same? Where would I find "income" on the 1040 tax form?

I'm fighting this very same problem. Because to me Adjusted Gross is no where near true "income". Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is Line 33 on the 1040. Total income is line 22. Income could be just Taxable income which is Line 39. This is your AGI less any itemized or standard deductions, less your exemptions. To be honest, at this point, you still haven't deducted for your tax paid, so that figure will be higher than your actual houshold "income".

There is a huge difference between the two, so to be safe, I'd ask the Profile people for instruction as to which income figure they want. Better to be safe than sorry.....
