I qualify for both NM and Bright Futures. Bright Futures offers a full ride to UF, and NM offers $24,000 - would I recieve both, or would they cancel out excess money?

You would get them both. They specifically mentioned that at the Outstanding High School Scholars weekend in July for the recruited National Merit Scholar students (did you go?)

No ... I am a Junior, and have not officially been named a NM S/F yet, but my score 223, should qualify me. Thanks for the help. Did you, or your S/D get both bright futures and NM?

Congratulations on your PSAT score! A 223 should definitely qualify you - the cutoff this year was 214.
My son will qualify for Bright Futures for sure and should have no problem making finalist for NM. His SAT score was 1600 and his weighted GPA is 4.2 so he should make it.
UF recruits NM scholars for their Honors program and invites Florida's highest scorers on the PSAT to the Outstanding High School Scholars program in July. They give the kids a special purple application that allows them to apply by early September on a non-binding Early Decision plan, with a decision by Dec. 15. The weekend highlights the Honors program, tours the Honors dorm and features a presentation by the financial aid department. They made it clear that NM finalists could get BOTH Bright Futures money and the $5500/year for National Merit.

Would either of you happen to know if FSU gives any money to NM finalists?

Just to clarify, doesn't Bright Futures cover up to $4000 a year for tuition costs only? I realize the NM money is separate and a great bonus...congrats to those who have earned this honor. But I really wouldn't say that Bright Futures alone can be seen as a "full ride." Have I misread the info on the website? It would be great to learn that Bright Futures covers more than just 4K.
