My niece has decent grades and test scores, very good EC's and I don't know about her essays, but she's won some state writing awards. Her rec's should be good also. She will be attending her state university and wants to study some type of engineering. Does anyone know of any scholarships that don't require top scores and grades? She will probably qualify for scholarships that require "demonstrated financial need." I'm wondering if there are any specifically for girls in engineering. Thanks.

I've have been looking for the same thing. There is one for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Women in Engineering (WIE) They do ask for grades and test scores, school activities, etc. Look for any engineering scholarships. Seriously they desperately are encouraging women to get into engineering. I'm sure she will get scholarships if she applies to several of them.

Thanks for responding. She's looked at these and I'll post if she finds any others. Good luck

One thing to check closely is scholarships offered by the very school she is intending to go to. Sometimes you have to search the web-site carefully as she may be able to apply for a scholarship that is labeled by the school for minorities and then the description of minorities includes women attending the engineering school.
