By Sammywu (Sammywu) on Thursday, November 20, 2003 - 08:37 pm: Edit

I just came to U.S. 3yrs ago as an international student. I plan
to go to private university but the
tuition is really shocking( 40,000 dollars/yr!!!)

It's the same even if I attend
public school since I am neither a
permanant resident of U.S. nor a citizen.
I cannot apply to virtually any financial aid
because of my status.
I just hope to save some money but have a
very diccicult time to find any.

Thanks to whoever who replys.

http://www.usjournal.com/en/students/info/finaid.htmlFinancing a post-secondary education is no easy task, as you may have already discovered. There are many resources to assist you; please plan to take time and explore all of your options, and learn what financial aid program suits you best.

More than two-thirds of non-U.S. students use funds from their own personal accounts and from their families as the primary source of financing their education. According to the latest statistics from Open Doors, 68 percent of international students use personal and family funds as the primary source of funding for their U.S. studeis. Only about 21 percent of non-U.S. students receive most of their academic funding from a U.S. college or university.

A number of U.S. colleges, universities and English language programs offer primarily partial scholarships for non-U.S. students. The criteria and policies at each individual institution vary. For details, contact a school that interests you, and explain your situation. But be prepared: International student scholarships are very competitive! Bookmark this site and visit us often, as we constantly update international scholarship opportunities. Please click each campus name below to learn more:
While this site mentions that international aid is very competitve, prospective students should note, especially students who haven't been able to find ANY sources of aid, that it does mention that 21 % of international students do recieve most of their academic funding from a US college or university
But people, if you found this college website- how come you can't do your own research?

It is actually the first time for me to hear
the website you posted.
I have been doing research for past three weeks but found almost all financial aid are for U.S. citizens only.

Thanks a lots for your quick response.
