i got a quick question. on my EA financial aid application, i had to put down the date of my father's death but the year was an approximate. Because of personal and complicated reasons, i do not know the EXACT year of his death. i am going to put down that date or either decline to state (should have for early action because i did not the exact date) on FASFA. Will FASFA find means to verify the date of his death? i do not want problems to occur from this because of the incorrect date.

Hi - If you know your Father's full name and where he died ( or lived ) , you may be able to find his year of death from the SSDI at www.ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ .

Good luck !

When I graduated from high school in 2003, I changed my address to my father's house, so I could use his income as head of household for FASFA instead of my stepfather's. However, in filing taxes for 2003, if my mom and stepfather would benefit more from claiming me as an dependent, then am I forced to once again use their household income to satisfy FASFA, or I can still use my father's?

Regarding FASFA, would I benefit if my mother filed taxes separately, instead of jointly with my stepfather? As my father does not earn a living, FASFA includes my stepfather's income. How can I avoid this? I never end up getting any aid.
