I am definitly going to need a scholarship to pay for college. I am an African American and I am told that more special scholarships may be open to me. Does anyone know about such scholarships or other scholarships that are open to anyone (because I am very confident that I can compete with all yall white people-Affirmative Action Rocks!!!)

Did you take the PSATs? If you did and got an exceptionally good score, you may be able to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship and I believe there is an addition scholarship for blacks associated with the PSAT.
Also try looking on FastWeb or other scholarship search engines... you can find scholarship opportunities dealing with your strengths.

Thanks for your help. I did take the PSAT and I am confident that I did well (probably about 215 total) which should get me at least into the Nation Merit Scholarship Competition. There is an additional scholarship that is for black people that has to do with the PSAT; it is called the National Achievement Scholarship (I wonder why they called it that). However, I was really looking for information on big scholarships, like at least say $5000. Thanks again for your information and the link!

The only scholarship I know of that is for juniors is the Discover Card Tribute Award, which is worth up to 25,000.
