Is it true that Northwestern is really difficult to work w/ when it comes to financial aid? I'm applying ED, and I'm pretty sure that if I'm accepted, I'll have to decline if I don't receive enough aid. Just wondering what anyone knew.

Two students we know are attending there with plenty of financial aid - one is also on a speech/debate scholarship. Both families are middle-income; one with 2 public schoolteachers. The mom told me the cost is about equal to that of an in-state public school.

We fell into that gap of a much higher EFC than possible, and beyond their level for financial need. (NW gives no merit aid without financial need.) Go for it - and good luck!
