How does this work? My present employer does not sponsor National Merit Scholarships but a previous one does. I am trying to see if they will sponsor my kid. If they do, what is the procedure? I suppose they will know what to do.

I'd start by contacting the HR department. If you are part of a large company, the local HR people may be in the dark but can probably find out.

I'm not familiar with the corporate sponsorship for National Merit Scholars, but employer scholarships are certainly something to check out while you are in contact with the HR people. The competition is often a lot easier, and a high potential kid like yours could probably get a top level award (which chould still be pretty small, of course). Good luck!
