I've heard the arguments over ED before, and I won't apply ED anywhere because I won't be able to compare packages. Does EA affect aid at all? Just curious as to how it works. Thank you.

There is no evidence I am aware of that suggests EA can have an adverse impact on aid. If you are applying to a school that uses EA to choose those the school believes are the best of the crop, it can actually have a possible favorable impact if you are accepted as they may get some merit money into the package to convince you to come.

Colleges can vary considerably in their "packages". It may be worth waiting to see what types of options you are offered, especially if you have a great student. EA does not give you that luxury.

Early Action does give you that option as with it you still need not commit until all offers are in before May. It is Early Decision that does not give you that luxury.
