Does any one know which private schools use the FAFSA and not the CSS profile? I have heard that this is the case with NYU. Any others?

Lewis & Clark is one.
If you are thinking that you will increase the chances of getting good grant aid by avoiding the CSS profile schools, you are on the wrong track. You might, but the FAFSA only schools can still ask for more information; they may not guarantee to meet full need; and whatever aid they offer may be heavily weighted toward loans.
FAFSA is used to qualify a student for federally subsidized loans, and loans bring money to a college. The college gets the loan proceeds immediately; the student has to pay loan origination fees and interest later on. So loans are a very good deal for a college. FAFSA-only can be a signal that the college is stingy with its aid; the colleges that are more generous have a greater incentive to want full, detailed information.

Regarding FAFSA-only schools: from what I've heard, for students living with a divorced parent, FAFSA looks only at that parent's finances. In cases where that parent has limited resources for college spending while the non-resident parent may have considerably more, choosing a FAFSA-only school might result in a lot more financial aid. So in light of this, I would like to see a listing of schools that are FAFSA only. Can anyone direct me?
