Hi everyone!!! My friend (who is VERY smart) told me about a scholarship last day...she says that to win it, not only you have to have perfect scores on the SAT, you also have to be an all-around person. if you get it, here's what you'll get:
1) Whole family will become American Citizens
2) You can choose whatever university you want to go to.(including Ivys)
3) Tuition and all other fees are paid by the government...
Could someone help me out and find out what this is??? Please don't think that i am making this up..she saw an article on this on the VOA(voice of America) website...i tried to find it...but no luck!!! i found the Presidential Scholars Program , but i don't think it's what i am looking for! help me out plz!!! Thank you all!!!(sorry i blabbed for quite a while)

This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I don't think it's true. However no one said money can't do the impossible.

To Magicdragonfly: why shouldn't it be allowed???...by the way, I don't think it's true either(it's just that my friend saw an article on it..) Does anyone know some scholarships that are similar to this one??

well..if it is it shouldn't be allowed b/c there is no reason that an entire family should be allowed to become citizens just b/c they have one well rounded student w/ a 1600..and there is no reason anyone should get guaranteed admission to any university they chooose..and there is NO reason the government should pay for EVERYTHING -esp when there are plenty of people who aren't getting NEARLY as much as they need for college

not true, kiddo.
I'm not saying your friend is making it up, it's just extremely unlikely, espec. the citizenship thing. maybe she just read the article incorrectly

An international student is not eligible for US government aid for school, so the citizenship thing does sound kinda sketchy particulary as they are deporting people just cause they can't pronounce their name correctly.
However some private schools/ private scholarships are available. Your best bet is to start with looking for schools that give aid to international students
It can be confusing, because to recieve aid from a private instituition you need to fill out the FAFSA which is used for government aid.
http://www.edupass.org/finaid/fafsa.phtml
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used by US citizens and permanent residents to apply for financial aid from the US federal and state governments. Colleges and universities also use the information submitted on the FAFSA for computing need-based awards. International students are not eligible for the US government aid programs (Pell Grant, SEOG Grant, Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, PLUS Loan, and Federal Work-Study). However, many schools will ask international students to submit a FAFSA so that they may use the data for assessing financial need. id

A Seattle federal judge ruled yesterday that immigration officials could deport a British doctor who worked with homeless teens in the Bronx and helped to treat victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
See what I mean? He has been in jail while they decide what to do with him.
