Is there even a chance if your parents make that much (or more) per year yet are stingy and selfish? How about need based grants? What about divorced parents?
Just curious.
Thanks

Divorced parents -- colleges would expect contributions from both parents even if divorced.

Obviously, the amount of aid you receive depends on which university you choose to go to. I'll be going to Penn next year, but my family's income is only 150k (relative to the stereotypical Ivy League student's family, that's probably small). However, the university still managed to couch up 4000+ in grants, 2500 work-study and numerous loan options. I also got about 40k+ in outside scholarships, which I wont be declaring =). As far as divorced parents go, if you write something about it in the comments section of your finacial aid application, I'm sure they'll be a little more lenient.

Pennster, did you apply ED or RD? I wonder if ED acceptees get grants...
